Inference for Lorenz curve orderings

In this paper we consider the issue of performing statistical inference for Lorenz curve orderings. This involves testing for an ordered relationship in a multivariate context and making comparisons among more than two population distributions. Our approach is to frame the hypotheses of interest as sets of linear inequality constraints on the vector of Lorenz curve ordinates, and apply order-restricted statistical inference to derive test statistics and their sampling distributions. Bayesian joint models for longitudinal and survival data

This paper takes a quick look at Bayesian joint models (BJM) for longitudinal and survival data. A general formulation for BJM is examined in terms of the sampling distribution of the longitudinal and survival processes, the conditional distribution of the random effects and the prior distribution. Next a basic BJM defined in terms of a mixed linear model and a Cox survival regression models is discussed and some extensions and other Bayesian topics are briefly outlined.

Experimental approach for testing the uncoupling between cardiovascular variability series

In cardiovascular variability analysis, the significance of the coupling between two series is commonly assessed by defining a zero level on the magnitude-squared coherence (MSC). Although the use of the conventional value of 0.5 does not consider the dependence of MSC estimates on the analysis parameters, a theoretical threshold Tt is available only for the weighted covariance (WC) estimator. ON THE ASYMPTOTIC DISTRIBUTION OF BARTLETT'S Up-STATISTIC

Abstract. In this paper the asymptotic behaviour of Bartlett's Up-statistic for a goodness-of-fit test for stationary processes, is considered. The asymptotic distribution of the test process is given under the assumption that a central limit theorem for the empirical spectral distribution function holds. It is shown that the Up-statistic tends to the supremum of a tied down Brownian motion. By a counterexample we refute the conjecture that this distribution is in general of the Kolmogorov-Smirnov type. A new testing procedure is derived which enables to assess the equivalence of two arbitrary noncontinuous distribution functions from which unrelated samples are taken as the data to be analyzed. MCMC methods to approximate conditional predictive distributions

Sampling from conditional distributions is a problem often encountered in statistics when inferences are based on conditional distributions which are not of closed-form. Several Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) algorithms to simulate from them are proposed. Potential problems are pointed out and some suitable modifications are suggested. Approximations based on conditioning sets are also explored. The issues are illustrated within a specific statistical tool for Bayesian model checking, and compared in an example. An example in frequentist conditional testing is also given.

The plant-pathogenic bacterium Xylella fastidiosa was first reported in Europe in 2013, in the province of Lecce, Italy, where extensive areas were affected by the olive quick decline syndrome, caused by the subsp. pauca. In Alicante, Spain, almond leaf scorch, caused by X. fastidiosa subsp. multiplex, was detected in 2017. The effects of climatic and spatial factors on the geographic distribution of X. fastidiosa in these two infested regions in Europe were studied.
